Fifth District Virtual Town Halls Postponed

In light of the fast-evolving threat of the COVD-19 and the uncertainty and anxiety it has unleashed, Indiana TownHalls has postponed the virtual town halls scheduled for Monday, March 16 and Tuesday, March 24 to Monday, April 20 and Tuesday, April 21.

Indiana Town Halls made this decision after consultation with Sen. John Ruckelshaus, Rep. Ed DeLaney, moderator Jim Shella and Clayton Taylor of
WFYI Productions. Given the large number of candidates and the number of WFYI production staff, we realized we would exceed the 50-person limit recommended by the Centers for Disease Control for group gatherings.

While the decision may lean toward an overabundance
of caution, we believe it to be prudent while still affording Fifth
District citizens the chance to hear from candidates prior to the May
7 election day.

We thank all those candidates for their commitment to participate and
look forward – hopefully – to hosting the Town Halls at the WFYI
studios closer to election day. Special thanks to WFYI for its flexibility and support.
